Remember, remember, the 5th of November...

    Today is Guy Fawkes today.

Celebrate by killing people and blowing shit up.

    I hate to sound partisan.
But the Conservative Party of Canada are a bunch of dog-raping shit-eaters who should be dragged out behind Parliament and shot.

    Flagburning As Patriotic Celebration

    Destroy the flag.

Set it aflame. Watch it burn. Crush the ashes underfoot. Only then will you understand.

The flag is not a symbol. It is a physical incarnation of a symbol. Being so manifested, it is nothing but a bit of cloth: an imperfect shadow of a platonic ideal, impermanent, transitory. Only by destroying the shadow, and not lamenting it, will you come to love the shadowcaster.

The flag represents not what your country stands for, but a fixation on mental weakness, a need for something to rally around. They are a largely outmoded version of old battle-standards, which in this day and age are utterly useless, with modern warfare's emphasis on stealth and mobility.

What the flag is supposed to stand for today, rather than dominance over a battlefield, is everything that its country holds dear. All this in a bit of cloth? Oh dear.

Destroying the flag does no harm to ideals. Those who invest their beliefs into colored fabric will be disappointed, because fabric fades adn wears out. But ideas are indestructible, immortal, invincible. They have no physical substance, and so cannot be harmed. Even killing those who believe in them--or symbolic representations of them--can often do more to strengthen them than weaken them.

Realize the truth. The flag not a symbol. The flag is nothing. The ideal is everything. Do not worship the flag, worship what it stands for. When you can do that, you won't need the flag anymore.

Burn the flag to rid yourself of a superfluous copy of a great symbol. Burn it to celebrate the freedom it supposedly represents. If you can't, then you are not free.

    Protest Disaster Movie!
(No, it's not political.  It's economic, though.  Close enough.)

    Fuck Disaster Movie.

Did enough people actually see Date Movie, and Epic movie, and Superhero Movie, and the execrable Scary Movie sequels done by the same queef--sorry, team--that execs thought Disaster Movie would be a good investment?  Did they really?  If so, and it's not some weird loophole like the German tax gap that allowed Uwe Boll to make the worst movies ever and still his investors would get a return on it, this depresses me.

Well, fuck that.  I am not just going to not encourage them, by telling everyone I know to not see it.  I am going to discourage them.

Don't see Disaster Movie on its opening weekend (August 29th).  See The Dark Knight [again].

This is like an IRL forum raid, I guess, or like Anonymous protesting Scientology, except even less important, but seriously: let's not only not see Disaster Movie, but actively discourage everyone else from seeing it, and recommend The Dark Knight.  I'm all for freedom of choice, but some choices are just plain wrong, and anyway anyone who would see Disaster Movie[ because they liked the last movies probably won't be dissuaded from ever watching it...but maybe if Disaster Movie does poorly enough opening weekend, and The Dark Knight gets a bump a full six weeks after its opening--maybe even enough to bump it up a spot from wherever it is--maybe someone will connect the dots and get the message.

Probably not.  But hey, there are worse things we could be doing with our time than seeing The Dark Knight again, right?

If you agree with me, copy and paste this to your LJ, and any other journal you may have.  Yes, I am starting a meme.  Try not to faint.

    Global Warming
For all those smug and self-satisfied primates who are writing in saying, “There’s no such thing as global warming, because it’s cold outside”, I have several points to make.

First, weather is not climate, you stupid monkeys.

Second, the plural of anecdote is not data, you moronic simians.

Third, even if it were, for every arrogant anecdote about your encountering ice on the lake or snow on the round in May, I have one about the ice retreating further and further each year on the world’s mountains and glaciers and Antarctica falling apart because it’s melting, you jabbering, poop-throwing, half-educated apes.

Your attempts at wit and logic are complete and epic failures, and if you cared about your children’s future you’d kill yourself as soon as they were self-sufficient, to stop wasting resources like water, food, air, and time that could be put to better use in aiding the survival of people who might want to try, y’know, contributing to solutions, rather than burying their heads in the sand, you utterly pathetic, willfully blind chimps.

Or, in the language of the Internets:
tl;dr: Global warming deniers should STFU and GTFO.

What to do, what to do...
Pretty basic shit. I'm still not sure what I'm doing here--aside, of course, from </a></strong></a>[info]limyaael.  I might just leave it blank and stalk or something, but I don't want to waste space.

I don't have a polisci blog yet.  That'd be neat.  I have this nebulous idea on ranting about the cult of the soldier...
